Setting the blade too low on a mower will damage the roots of the grass and slow the overall growth rate of your lawn. Frequent, but shallow, mowing is the best way to maintain a healthy lawn.

Begin to repair any winter damage. Over the winter, your lawn may have become damaged. Overseed if your lawn has developed any bald patches, but remember if you need to seed your lawn you will need to hold off on applying any weed control. You may apply weed control once you have good grass growth.
